It’s 1998, and a dying suburban mall is the setting for four friends—Carly, Willow, Ash, and Baxter—working dead-end jobs while dreaming of better lives. With the clock ticking down to the turn of the millennium, they pin their hopes on winning a national karaoke contest, “Sing Out,” which promises a $25,000 prize if only their dumbass boss, Greg, would get off their backs. As they prepare for the competition, they grapple with shifting personal dynamics, the erosion of their safe space with the emergence of gun violence, and the pressures of an increasingly uncertain world.
